All Of It

I am sad and happy at the same moment. I feel that makes my moment to moment life so rich. It’s as if I’m having everything every moment. All of it. That’s why I’m not collecting later or remembering before, because this is enough. This has got all of the poignancy. There’s a richness in the moment to moment existence.

Happy New Year yogis!

I am truly looking forward to our first multi-day retreat, The Yoga of Happiness Retreat, April 5th-7th in the Texas Hill Country. Start your year off right by making a commitment to deepen your yoga and meditation practice through this advanced yogic study retreat on happiness!

Since I first announced the retreat, I have had a few questions from students about the accommodations. So I would like to take a moment here to give you all a better description of this serene retreat center we will be staying at. First, I want you to know that our group will have the entire center to ourselves. The Margaret Austin Center has accommodations for 50 people, and we will have a fraction of that number of people attending the overnight retreat. Our group will be able to really spread out across two dormitory buildings.

There are currently two private rooms left in the Kranz House. You can reserve an individual room for you and a friend to share. The only requirement is that at least two people occupy a private room. There will be no other guests in your room. Each private room has the capacity to sleep up to six people, if you wish to attend the retreat with more than one friend and all share a room together. In the larger dorm, the Edgar House, a small number of people will be spread out on two separate floors. This is not a big open room with rows of beds like army barracks. Instead, there are small groupings of bunk beds separated by partial or full walls. You will be able to find a comfy nook in the dorm to call your own with plenty of personal space. I can guarantee you will not have anyone sleeping above you, under you, or beside you. And finally, Camping would give you all the personal space and privacy you could possibly need. This will be more like glam-ping, as you will have full access to indoor hot showers and bathrooms, and delicious prepared meals in the dining hall. You will simply be sleeping outdoors on a warm spring night in the Texas Hill Country.

In a traditional yoga and meditation retreat, it is not uncommon to share a room or space with other yogis. It is beneficial in that it prevents us from isolating, and helps us make wonderful personal connections that we otherwise would not have the opportunity to make. In this retreat we are stripping down, getting back to basics, and reconnecting with nature in order to let go of our habitual conditioning to help us uncover who we really are, what is important to us, and see things anew. This is the greatest gift of going on retreat. I hope you will join us for this special experience!

Namaste,

Dominique
